Jeff and Erica both swiped right on one another in August of 2014. Immediately after matching, they messaged one another, and two days later they were on their first date at El Vez in Philadelphia. It was a great first date, an amazing second date, and an unforgettable third date. The great dates kept going until one day, Jeff, still dealing with the aftermath of divorce, got scared. One night Jeff invited Erica out to Vedge, an excellent vegan restaurant, and told her he "didn't see this going anywhere long-term, but enjoyed hanging out" with her if she was okay to keep things casual.Surprisingly (and thankfully), Erica agreed. They continued dating for another few months, having a great time together. At some point during that time, Jeff showed Erica his list of what he was looking for in a partner. Without even realizing it, he had shown Erica an entire list describing her almost perfectly. But Jeff wasn't taking things seriously, and in December, without them having made plans for the holidays, Erica began to question things. When someone else asked her to be his girlfriend, she said yes. It wasn't long before Jeff and Erica both realized how much they missed one another. For around six months they exchanged love letters in the background and text messages every now and again.By June it became obvious that the relationship Erica was in wasn't meant to last. After they split, Jeff and Erica met for lunch, and three months later they got back together and have been together ever since.
Long story short, Jeff made Erica cater her own engagement.
Under the guise of an online dating workshop, Jeff proposed to Erica in front of her colleagues, WeWork members, and her family. At the time, Jeff had been offering online dating consulting, helping people write their profiles and find the love of their life, just as he did using online dating. He asked Erica if she would host an event at WeWork, where she was working as a community manager. He asked if she would ensure there was adequate food and drink and to really make it a big deal so they could help more people find love. Little did she know that Jeff was planning to use this event as an opportunity to ask her to marry him.Jeff had met with Erica's cousin Julian several weeks prior and informed him of his plans to propose. Julian revealed that there was a secret diamond ring that belonged to Erica's grandmother and inquired whether Jeff would want to use it. Jeff happily agreed, and the two began scheming to ensure that the entire family could be there to witness the big occasion. The entire event was streamed live on Facebook under the guise of using it for promotion.Towards the end of the presentation, Jeff played a video that showed him and his friend Tim driving to Delaware to ask the family's permission to propose to Erica. In the video, he asked Erica's grandmother in "perfect" Cantonese, and the family agreed.
As the video ended, he called her up, got down on one knee and asked Erica "will you be my forever?"
She replied yes, and turned to see that everyone, including her family that had been snuck in at the last moment were there to celebrate with her.

We got privately married in December 2017. That meant that we could pretty much do whatever we wanted for the public wedding. So, we decided to write our own wedding ceremony to be part wedding, part show, and we brought in our friend Mark to be our officiant, dressed as a unicorn. Our Wedding Site on TheKnot.com

Something we get asked about a lot.
If you're dating...
When you plan a date, try going to 2-4 different places each time you go out. It is a subtle mental trick that makes the date feel longer and more significant. It'll feel like having several dates at once because of the change of scenery.
If you're engaged...
1. Get married privately, then plan the public wedding.
Why?
- You get to be more honest and vulnerable with your vows. You can exchange your vows the night before so it's just the two of you. Remember, a marriage is between two people and it extends long after the wedding day. Exchanging vows is a deeply meaningful moment and you shouldn't have to air out your fears and needs in front of grandma, grandpa, and all your friends.
- It takes a lot of the pressure off of planning the public wedding, because now it's just a party. You can even get married by a unicorn đ2. Make sure the public wedding / party is everything YOU want it to be. It doesn't matter what anyone else wants. Do you own thing.3. That said, maybe do a longer cocktail hour. It's everyone's favorite.4. Revisit your vows every year on your wedding anniversary. Make amendments, as needed.
If you're newly married...
If you're planning to have kids, don't rush it. Try to just enjoy being married before kids. It's one of the best times together. Travel and enjoy the dual incomes and no kids.
Thinking about having kids?
Some Things to Do Before The Kids Arrive
- Take as many naps as you can now...while you still can.
- Also, sleep in, as often as you can.
- Go out to dinner as often as you can and enjoy every, uninterrupted, bite.
Things EVERY parent should get, if they can afford to
